Brydekirk Primary is a member of the Wee Schools Matter campaign, fighting education cuts to keep smaller schools alive.
Brydekirk Primary school roll currently sits at 27, but with three Primary Sevens leaving and no Primary Ones joining this year, we were told that they would not be able to maintain our staff – despite a projected four pupils so far due to enrol next year.
Since we were told this, we’ve managed to increase our intake for 2019-20, so our teachers and school are safe for now. But we’re determined to ensure that Brydekirk – and other small schools in the region – are safe going forward.
